About Suzanne


Career History

Suzanne was a senior member of Hogan Lovells’ commercial litigation team from 2007 until the summer of 2019. Whilst there, she oversaw a wide range of disputes, which were predominantly multi-party and high value.

As a litigator her clients were generally multi-national corporations, banks, financial institutions, insolvency practitioners and high net worth individuals. The disputes she has handled have typically been multi-jurisdictional, usually with an international element.

During Suzanne’s time at the firm she also completed two six month secondments, to the firm’s New York office and to the group litigation team at Standard Chartered Bank.

Suzanne took on the prominent role at Hogan Lovells as the firm’s mediation champion. This entailed representing the firm at all mediation related engagements, providing internal mediation training and delivering talks on mediation to the firm’s key clients.

Areas of Practice

Suzanne’s dispute resolution practice has focused on the banking and financial services and retail and leisure sectors, with a specialism in contentious insolvency. As a result, Suzanne has an impressive understanding of the key commercial and legal issues in those areas, providing a useful background when mediating disputes.

Suzanne’s breadth of experience extends from these sectors to a wide range of practice areas and types of disputes including, private equity, real estate, intellectual property, director and/or shareholder and general commercial disputes.

Suzanne has an in-depth understanding of litigation practice and procedure and is adept at navigating all the stages of the litigation process.

Suzanne is routinely commended on the speed at which she assimilates the background information surrounding a dispute and gets to grips with the commercial complexities and legal issues involved.

Suzanne prides herself on her ability to build rapport with those at all levels within an organisation. She has a creative approach to thinking through difficult issues, quickly gains her clients’ trust and confidence, is pragmatic and ensures she understands her clients’ ultimate goals. Combined, these skills enable her to help clients to settle disputes they previously considered intractable.

 

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Negotiation from Yale University March 2021.

  • Accredited as Community Mediator with CALM in May 2019.

  • Accredited as a mediator with CEDR in April 2018.

  • Obtained higher rights of audience in May 2010.

  • Admitted as a solicitor in England & Wales in August 2007.

  • Completed the LPC at BPP in London in July 2005, having completed the GDL at BPP in 2004.

  • Graduated from the University of Leeds having studied International History & Politics in 2003.

Outside of work

  • Outside of mediation and family life, Suzanne has a variety of interests including visiting art galleries, cooking and eating out, her work as Chair of Governors of a primary school skiing and exploring the world.

  • Suzanne brings the same level of commitment and enthusiasm to all that she does both professionally and personally.
